Oxnard—At about 9:22 p.m., Friday, July 11, Officers from the Oxnard Police Department and EMS personnel responded to an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist near the intersection of Ventura Road and Devonshire Drive.
UPON arrival, officers located an unidentified male lying next to a bicycle in the driveway of the Grocery Outlet shopping center. The bicyclist was suffering from significant injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Ventura County Medical Center.
The driver of the vehicle, Hannah De La Cruz, remained on scene and cooperated with patrol officers.
Preliminary investigation revealed De La Cruz was traveling northbound on Ventura Road and made a right turn into the Grocery Outlet shopping center.
During the turn, she collided with the bicyclist, who had been riding northbound on Ventura Road. Investigators do not believe impairment by alcohol or drugs, or speed, contributed to the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
On Friday, July 25, at about 2:30 p.m., the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office notified the Oxnard Police Department that the bicyclist involved in this collision had succumbed to his injuries. They identified the male as Salvador Lopez of Oxnard.
