Buena Onda Music Makes Harbor Dance

Channel Islands—The Concerts by the Sea hit high gear Saturday, July 25, as Buena Onda Music brought their rock and roll classics that brought the crowd to their feet and to the dance area.

THE concerts have been a favorite since before moving from Peninsula Park, as music lovers love the atmosphere and enhanced view after some of the trees were removed.

Junior Espinoza plays rhythm guitar, sings, and writes original music for the band.

“I do a little bit of everything,” he said. “We’ve added six to eight songs in the last few months, and we keep trying to adjust the set list.”

He said his best song ideas come at 2 to 3 a.m.

“I’ll have an idea in my head, and I’ll play the tune and come up with the words,” he said.

“We’re all laid back, everyone has a say in the group, we communicate, and there is no fighting.”

In his first band back in the ’80s, he was a drummer.

It takes about an hour for Junior to come down from the performance high he gets on stage, he said.

“If the drive home, and I have a drink, sometimes it takes two hours,” he said.
