Campus Park Plans Many Amenities

Oxnard—The Campus Park Activation Project conversation continues with Emcee Mayor Pro Tem Gabe Teran thanking everyone for attending the event and noting that Campus Park sits on traditional ancestral lands of the Chumash people.

THEY cared for this land, and we recognize their continuous connection to these lands,” he said. “I’m excited to be here for this groundbreaking ceremony, and it’s really happening. There’s shovel and dirt; there’s not going to be delays.”

He said that Campus Park is more than just a construction milestone.

“This is a culmination of decades of community persistence and our vision of turning these 26 acres into a park that celebrates Oxnard’s cultural diversity through various community amenities that will be here for the community to enjoy for generations to come,” he said. “We’ll keep our community healthy, active and connected.”

He said the public can come and relax in the seating areas, the pavilion, the multi-use lawns, and the seasonal dry creek, which Teran said are just a few things.

Teran read a list of dignitaries who made the day happen, but noted that the list was incomplete.

Campus Park received $22 million in highly competitive grants to make it a reality, which brought big applause.
