Car Shows highlight Father’s Day

Channel Islands-- Father’s Day was special across Channel Islands Harbor Sunday, June 18, as Car Shows at the Harbor and Channel Islands Maritime Museum had Dads enjoying their special day with Kids and families.

CLASSIC cars and their owners were ready to answer questions, swap stories and enjoy the day as they competed for trophies. Plenty of vendors were on hand, so Dads were treated to special snacks.

Roy Alva brought his 1940 Chevy Special Deluxe to show with its original 230 engine.

“The rear end and the tranny have been changed on it,” he said. “It’s got a C10 and a 1978 rear end in it. It’s also got a four-speed manual transmission.”

He did some paint touch-ups before taking it on the road.

“I retouched the interior, trunk, and I retouched the sides,” he said. “I got some accessories for it and dressed it up a little bit more. I still have to get my door handles.”

 

He belongs to the Felix Car Club, that has been established since 1999.

“Felix used to be a car dealership in LA, he said. “The Felix Car Club is a cruiser car club. Felix dresses the car up.”
