Oxnard—The City Council, on Tuesday, September 15, approved its 19th substantial amendment to the FY 2021 annual action plan for CARES Act Funds.
THE City receives three annual entitlement funds from HUD (United States Department of Housing and Urban Development), and Lorraine Mendez from the Department of Housing said they include Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Home Investment (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant Funds.
“On March 20, 2020, the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act was signed into law, providing supplemental funding to HUD entitlement jurisdictions to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic impacts,” she said. “Under the CARES Act, the City of Oxnard received a special allocation of $3,088,367 in Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) Funds; $5,255,005 in Emergency Solutions Grant-Corona (ESG-CV) funds.”
On October 6, 2020, she said the City Council approved an amendment to the FY 2020-21 Annual Action Plan to accept and program these CARES Act Funds.
“The City fully expended ESC-CV Funds, and has been closed out,” she said. “The CDBG-CV program has a balance of $177,208, resulting from savings from completed projects that came in under budget.”
