Chelita brings happiness to Heritage Square

Oxnard—The drinks, music, and shopping filled Heritage Square on Saturday, July 13, as the Second Annual Chelita celebration brought out a great crowd ready to enjoy the afternoon.

THE event, made possible by the Oxnard Performing Arts Center Corporation, featured the “ultimate Michelada Competition,” plus plenty of music, art, and dancing, while vendors helped shoppers pick up great keepsakes.

Oxnard Performing Arts Center Director of Events and Programs Christian Ramirez happily took on the event.

“Chelita is really just a way to merge the worlds together, the world of Micheladas and art,” he said. “We’re trying to grow this into a mini Coachella.”

The event is growing, and he said they had five Michelada competitors in 2023, which grew to 11 in 2024.

“We were able to bring different groups in and have judges,” he said. “There aren’t a lot of things like this that happen at Heritage Square. I want to ensure that people who drink Micheladas enjoy Heritage Square’s beauty.”
