Oxnard-- The Public Works & Transportation Committee approved a department-wide blanket purchase order with Consolidated Electrical Distributors (Royal Industries Solutions) during its Tuesday, January 23 meeting.
THE blanket purchase order has a not-to-exceed amount of $455,000, with an option to extend the agreement through June 30, 2025.
Assistant Public Works Director Steve Howlett said that as a standard practice, the City establishes blanket purchase orders with vendors to purchase operating supplies to support routine city operations.
“Blanket purchase orders are typically established and approved at the appropriate approval level per the City’s purchasing policy,” he said. “These one to two-year purchasing agreements allow the staff to effectively acquire the necessary supplies for day-to-day operational needs and the continued maintenance of City facilities or equipment.”
He said all formal procurement solicitations in excess of $200,000 are subject to the City Council’s review and approval, and therefore, in order to fill a routine electrical supply need through the Public Works Department, the Staff is recommending a blanket purchase order in the amount of $455,000 for electrical supplies.
“This will allow the department to take advantage of quantity discounts while reducing administrative time and expenses associated with paperwork and processing,” Howlett said.…
