Council renews OTMD agreement

Oxnard--The City Council renewed and unanimously approved the Oxnard Tourism Marketing District (OTMD) Agreement during its Tuesday, September 5 meeting.

THE District creates a revenue source to help fund marketing and sales promotion efforts for lodging businesses with 55 rooms or more within Oxnard’s boundaries.

Assistant City Manager Ashley Golden presented the item and said the City Council first approved the OTMD on March 5, 2019, and Visit Oxnard is responsible for managing the District.

“Visit Oxnard wishes to renew the OTMD for a nine-year, three-month term,” she said. “The renewal process includes several steps, and the first one was completed June 29, 2023, when the City Council adopted a resolution of intent. The City then mailed a notice to the affected businesses, which would be in the OTMD, and on Tuesday, July 18, the City Council conducted a public meeting to introduce an ordinance related to the OTMD.”

She said the final step is the public hearing, the ordinance adoption, and a resolution.

“Following the public meeting, the City Council may adopt the ordinance and resolution which forms the renewed OTMD,” Golden said.
