Oxnard-- Between 7 p.m. and 2 a.m., Saturday, January 13, Oxnard Police Department Officers conducted a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint at Rose Avenue, north of Patton Court. The operation netted three arrests for impaired driving and seventeen citations.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The checkpoints’ primary purpose is not to make arrests but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
Checkpoint and DUI enforcement patrol funding is provided by a California Office of Traffic Safety grant through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
