Oxnard—The Fraternal Order of the Eagles celebrated Labor Day weekend grandly, as the venue sold lunch plates.
THE Fraternal Order of the Eagles’ motto, People Helping People, branches out with many fundraisers that help the community. Some of their many charities include cancer research, Diabetes awareness, victims of domestic violence, and kidney disease.
Social Room Manager Lisa Gonzales is putting on the Labor Day barbecue by herself and the trustees.
“Everybody brought dishes,” she said. “It was a last-minute thing, and we put it together on Wednesday.”
She served the guests and made mac and cheese.
“We got here early, she said. “It takes a little time and effort.”
Debbie Navarro was setting up the food.
“I made chili beans, a pasta dish, and a big macaroni salad,” she said.
TJ said he’s having a great Labor Day weekend and spent his time with his family.

“The meal was delicious,” he said. “The chili was my favorite. It’s the best chili I’ve tasted.”
He said they played football in the Valley and beat Birmingham High School.
“My son plays for Saint Bonaventure,” he said.
Jeremiah is happy because his team won its football game.
