Fire Equipment PO moves to Council

Oxnard-- The Finance and Governance Committee approved increasing the blanket purchase order (BPO) for All-Star Fire Equipment Co and LN Curtis & Sons on Tuesday, September 26.

THE agreement extends the All-Star agreement not to exceed $500,000 and not to exceed $1 million for L.N. Curtis & Sons. The agreement will continue through June 30, 2024.

Fire Chief Alex Hamilton presented the item and said the blanket purchase order was established to fill repetitive needs for goods, which makes it easier for the vendors and the department while using the City’s full buying power.

“BPOs are established as purchase orders with an order amount or not to exceed amount,” he said. “The Fire Department has a number of purchases from All-Star and L.N. Curtis that will exceed the current $200,000 not-to-exceed amount, and BPOs greater than $200,000 require Council approval.”

He said the Fire Department’s current BPO with All-Star does not exceed $180,000.

“All-Star Fire Equipment is the sole vendor for Lion turnouts, hoods, boots, and other miscellaneous equipment and supplies, which is what we use for our structure firefighting,” Hamilton said. “We need to increase the value of this BPO to $500,000 for anticipated purchases.”
