Fireworks remain illegal in Oxnard

Oxnard-- During his Tuesday, June 4, report to the City Council, City Manager Alex Nguyen reminded everyone that fireworks are illegal in the City of Oxnard.

"THE primary fireworks season is upon us, so here’s a reminder that all fireworks are illegal in the City of Oxnard,” he said. “That means possession, sales, and use subject the property owner and the tenants to being arrested or fined up to $1,000 for each violation on their property.” he said.

There are multiple ways to report fireworks, a Fireworks Officer’s cell phone number, and the cell phone number is 805-307-6308.

He said the Fireworks Hotline number is 805-394-5884.

“You can always call the non-emergency Dispatch Line, 805-385-7740,” he said. “If there is a situation where there is an active emergency, you should call 911. Of course, there is email, fireworks@oxnardpd.org.”

Reports to the email and the hotline can be anonymous; he said, however, if someone calls the other numbers, they should be prepared to provide the exact address where the fireworks are being ignited.

Nguyen said the Oxnard Police Department recently busted a major fireworks shipment in the City.
