Oxnard—This month’s featured Senior Citizen is Gabriel Gomez, who considers the Wilson Senior Center his family.
GOMEZ likes everybody, is considered a peacemaker at the Loteria Table, and does not have a best friend.
He spent his life working at the base, pancake house, and Gentry’s.
“We enjoy each other here, our family and friends,” he said. “Before I discovered this place, I would go to work every day and provide for my family.”
Gabriel’s wife passed away about six years ago, and he said they would come to the Wilson Senior Center together.
“After my Wife passed, my daughters encouraged me to come to the center with my friends, who are good family,” he said.
When he first arrived, he thought it was great to have the Wilson Senior Center in the City.
“My favorite place is here,” he said. “I love playing Loteria and Bingo, but my favorite thing to do is talking with all my friends.”
When a member of the Wilson family passes, they often do whatever they can and offer flowers. He said his friend Linda, who passed away, had a beautiful soul.
“We’d walk around the park,” he said.
