Oxnard— Roads in the City continue on their upward trend as CalTrans presented its Pavement Rehabilitation Project on State Route 232 (Vineyard Ave.) between U.S. Highway 101 and State Route 118 during its Thursday, June 27 meeting.
THE project will begin advertising in November, followed by a January 2025 bid opening. The award will take place in February 2025, and construction will start in September 2025.
Caltrans Project Manager Kenny Ha presented the upgrade, which will preserve and extend the life of the existing pavement, improve the ride quality, and upgrade safety measures for pedestrians and passengers.
“The data we’ve collected from the maintenance crew on State Route 232 is the pavement is cracking due to its long life,” he said. “In the past couple of years, we did have some seal pave projects in this area, but it didn’t do the job.”
He said they’ll cold plane and overlay the existing pavement with .20 feet of asphalt for approximately 14.71 lane miles.
“We’ll also reconstruct and upgrade 37 curb ramps to meet Americans With Disability Act (ADA) standards,” Ha said. “We’re also installing 37 Accessible Pedestrian Signals and touch-free Pedestrian Push Buttons.”
