Ventura—The Ventura County Board of Supervisors has passed its 2026-2027 budget, and Dr. Sevet Johnson from the County of Ventura said one of her main responsibilities is to put together a budget each year that reflects the community's needs and priorities for the upcoming year.
JOHNSON said County residents drive on County roads, call 911, visit a County Health Clinic, or receive services that help them and their families.
“So, how does that all get paid for?” she asked. “It starts with the County Budget, and each year, the Board of Supervisors reviews and approves a spending plan that outlines how much money the County expects to receive, and how that money will be used to serve the community.”
This year, she said the Budget is approximately $3.4 billion, which is not sitting in a bank account; it's how resources will be invested over the coming year to deliver services and programs across the County.
