May has big events In City of Oxnard

Oxnard—During his Tuesday, May 5, report to the City Council, City Manager Alex Nguyen said the Annual Oxnard Memorial Police Ceremony will be held at 10:30, Wednesday, at 251 South C Street, in Oxnard.

"THIS is a ceremony to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in our community,” he said. “It will take place, right next to the Police Station, and it will be held next Wednesday. Every year, they start on time, and they don’t take too long, not only for the Department, but for the entire community.”

Nguyen said May is Building Safety Month, and the theme is Built to Last.

Community Development Director Jeff Pengilly said the City of Oxnard is committed to the safety of its homes, buildings, and infrastructure.

“It’s not just in our everyday lives, but in times of natural disaster,” he said. “I want to highlight the Local Code Officials’ role, including Oxnard Staff, in ensuring that Oxnard residents have Code Compliant and safe buildings, where they work, play, and worship.”

 

Not only does that include fire, life, and safety, but he said it includes things like energy efficiency and disabled access.
