McLaughlin Waste Equipment PO advances

Oxnard--The Public Works and Transportation Committee approved a metal refuse waste container purchase order with McLaughlin Waste Equipment during the Tuesday, Feb. 26 meeting.

THE purchase order is for a not-to-exceed amount of $2.5 million for a three-year term ending June 30, 2027, for metal refuse containers.

Environmental Resources Division Manager Eric Zetz presented the purchase order and said the Environmental Resources Division provides weekly uninterrupted refuse and recycling collection to approximately 16,500 commercial and multifamily dwelling units with approximately 10,500 metal containers.

“Sufficient inventory must be maintained for container exchanges which are requested by customers due for repair or replacement,” he said. “Customers request metal refuse containers for specific collections of bulky waste, construction demolition projects, and commercial and multifamily developments.”

He said California State Mandate Assembly Bill 341 requires commercial recycling of businesses and multi-family units of five or more, which generates more than four cubic yards of refuse per week.

“California State Mandate Assembly Bill 1826 requires commercial organics recycling of businesses and multi-family units of five or more generating more than four cubic yards of refuse per week,” Zetz said. “With these laws this has required us to supply bin containers.
