Oxnard--Part Three of the water waste ordinance starts with the water rate, which Public Works Director Michael Wolfe said is set on the meter size.
The Council approved the emergency ordinance Chapter 22, Article VIII of the Oxnard City Code regarding water waste Tuesday, November 1. They updated the City’s water waste code by implementing emergency water conservation measures that apply when the City Council or the Director of Emergency Services declares a drought emergency in the City.
“With the larger size meter, you have a different fixed charge as your meter charge,” Wolfe said. “Then you have the variable charge, which is your volume you’d use.”
Mayor John Zaragoza gave an example and said you have said a set rate with solid waste and refuse, and for anybody who wants any additional containers, there is an additional cost.
“That’s a good point that people need to realize,” Zaragoza said. “We need to pay for the employees and their equipment. It’s important.”
Wolfe said if the City sees the volumetric limitations and they get mandates from the state that says you have to go to a volumetric process, the City will have to address those issues immediately.
