Oxnard-- Moms with their kids enjoyed a special Mother’s Day treat at the Oxnard Public Library Main Branch Saturday, May 13, as the group got to make gifts and cards for Mom while enjoying snacks.
THE groups worked diligently making the prizes and had plenty of books on hand about how important Moms are in the family.
Children’s Librarian Vanessa Chua said it’s important to celebrate Moms’ and Grandparents’ contributions to their families and society.
“I know they’re willing to die for their sons and daughters, and we want to honor them on this day,” she said. “We have books, snacks, juice, water, and arts and crafts that kids can enjoy and even create a Mother’s Day Card for the Moms or Grandparents.”
As a child, Vanessa fondly remembers going to the Market in the Philippines.
“We’d get fruits and vegetables, go to Church, and do many fun things,” she said. “When I got sick, my Mom would give me medicine, and it would help me out. Moms are special and can never be replaced.”

She said her helper Sarina helped her pick the books, and Vanessa said she read some of the titles during storytime at the Library.
