Oxnard—The Oxnard Transportation Center welcomed a big, new, and creative piece of artwork to the area on Saturday, September 7, as Artist DJ Javier’s Mural brought a celebration to the Transportation Center on Oxnard Boulevard.
THE Oxnard Performing Arts Center Corporation, Filipino American Council of Ventura County, and Downtown Oxnard brought the mural to the area, which adds beauty to downtown Oxnard, blending life within City.
The mural dedication event, inspired by the music of Cola Boyy, featured the talents of plenty of young dancers, as well as guest speakers who welcomed the mural with open arms.
Downtown Oxnard Improvement Association President Abel Magana is ecstatic to see public art pushing forward at the City’s core.
“This is a long sought-after project at this scale,” he said. “We worked with OPAC (Oxnard Performing Arts Center Corporation) to bring a renowned rising star here (Javier) to flavor the City. It has images that are iconic in the City, from the street vendors to the surf culture and the skaters and soccer; it’s all represented here.”

Magana said the City of Oxnard and the Federal Government, thanks to the ARPA funds, made the mural possible.
