OPD arrests barricaded resident

Oxnard—On Sunday, November 19, 2025, Oxnard Police Officers responded to the 1400 block of Spruce Street regarding a report of a subject armed with a knife who had commit­ted a robbery.

UPON arrival, officers discovered the suspect—later identified as Ibarra—had barricaded himself inside a residence.

Personnel from the Oxnard Police Department’s SWAT team, K-9 Unit, Crisis Negotiations Team, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Unit, along with assistance from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the incident.

Officers attempted to communicate with Ibarra for several hours, but he did not comply.

Chemical agents were ultimately deployed into the residence, and Ibarra was taken into custody with the assistance of an Oxnard Police K-9.

He was medically cleared for minor injuries and subsequently transported to the Ventura County Jail, where he was booked on charges of robbery, brandishing a deadly weapon, and resisting/ delaying/obstructing an arrest.

Investigators from the Oxnard Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence and later located evidence related to this investigation.
