Oxnard---Between the hours of 7 p.m. and 2 a.m., Friday, October 20, the Oxnard Police Department held a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint at Victoria Avenue and Wooley Road.
The operation resulted in three arrests for impaired driving, one arrest for driving with a suspended license for DUI, and nineteen citations.
Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. The checkpoint’s primary purpose is not to make arrests but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
Funding for checkpoint and DUI enforcement patrols is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
