OPD makes guns arrests

Oxnard-- At approximately 3:07 p.m., Sunday, January 13, Oxnard Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) Officers contacted several subjects in the 2600 block of El Dorado Avenue. During the contact, a loaded firearm was observed in plain view and within reach of suspects Shawn Leslie Garcia and Francisco Suarez.

OFFICERS safely recovered the firear­ms and arrested Garcia and Suarez without incident. While engaging additional persons, sus­pect Joel Ruiz possessed a concealed loaded handgun concealed on his person, and he was also arrested without incident.

Both firearms were inspected and found to have obliterated serial numbers. Suarez and Ruiz, both convicted felons with prior firearms violations, are prohibited from possessing firearms.
