Oxnard-- The city council’s update about the Public Works Department continues with Director Michael Wolfe saying that order complaints are down significantly as a result of operational improvements.
HE said the team works closely with the engineering division to implement critical capital improvement projects.
“The Stormwater group is responsible for the operational maintenance of the storm drainage system, including preparation for rain events,” he said. “They also are responsible for the municipal separate sewer storm system permit, which was renewed in late 2021. As part of the new MS4 permit, the city partnered with the county and cities within the county to develop a Watershed Management Program.”
He said the joint effort would identify regional solutions to water quality issues.
“In April of this year, the third round of trash excluders were installed, bringing trash capture devices to over 450,” he said.
The Public Works Department currently has 31 vacant positions, Wolfe said, which slows down response times and operations.
