Oxnard Police Arrest two

Oxnard—On September 19, at approximately 8:07 p.m., officers from the Oxnard Special Enforcement Unit (Gang Unit) conducted a traffic stop in the area of Channel Islands Ave and Concord Way.

THE vehicle initially failed to yield and then abruptly stopped at the intersection of Concord Dr. and Bismarck Way.

The passenger of the vehicle, Gary Morales, immediately fled the vehicle on foot and discarded a loaded, unregistered 30-30 Marlin rifle with a modified pistol grip.

Morales, a documented gang member and currently on parole for robbery and possession of a firearm, led officers on a short foot pursuit and was taken into custody in the 900 block of Bismarck Way.

A search of Morales was conducted, and an additional 30-30 ammunition, narcotics, and paraphernalia were located in Morales’s pocket.

Morales was charged with firearms and narcotics violations. The driver, who remained in the vehicle, was detained and identified as Arthur Vasquez.

A search of the vehicle was conducted, and an unregistered, 9-millimeter Glock handgun was found near where Vasquez was seated. A search of Vasquez was performed, and approximately 4.15 grams of Methamphetamine were located in his possession. Vasquez was also charged with firearms and narcotics violations.
