Port Hueneme-- The City of Port Hueneme Egg-Stravaganza started off a little rainy, but the weather cleared, and children’s spirits flew throughout Moranda Park on Saturday, March 23. Kids enjoyed activities offered by Ventura County Library, had their faces painted, interacted with animals at a petting zoo, pictures with the Easter Bunny, all culminating with an Easter Egg hunt that filled baskets full of treats.
RECREATION Coordinator Taylor Penny said that in light of the recent severe weather events that damaged the City of Port Hueneme, she was thrilled to see the Egg-Stravaganza come through so the kids could enjoy the day.
“We’re glad that we were able to have this event,” she said. “The sun is out, there are a lot of kids here, and it’s very successful.”
She said Moranda Park is a new location, and they have room to grow.
“Luckily, there are eggs that are pre-filled, and we ordered thousands of eggs filled with goodies and laid them out this morning,” she said. “We decorated the barriers and separated the kids by age groups so all kids have a fair chance to get an egg instead of the big kids dominating the babies.
