Pottery Market & Bowl of Thanks gift delight

Ventura—Holiday shoppers flocked to Ventura Harbor Village on Saturday, November 9, as the Pottery Market & Bowl of Thanks event featured unique handmade gifts that will stand out on Christmas morning.

THE Market, hosted by the Ventura County Potters’ Guild, brought together an array of skilled artists, with the proceeds benefiting Food Share of Ventura County, which continues its ongoing mission to eliminate food insecurity.

Food Share of Ventura County Marketing Director Sheena Kennedy said a portion of the proceeds helps people facing Food Insecurity.

“Every bowl is being sold for $25, and that allows us to buy the equivalent of food for 75 meals for the community,” she said. “We have 1 in 4 Ventura County residents who are food insecure.”

She said being food insecure means people do not have regular access to nutritious food, which equates to 267,000 people per year.

 

“We operate together as a society, and we all need to help each other,” Kennedy said. “I’ve met Mothers who do not have enough food to feed their children. “We want to make that we, the community, help our neighbors who need food.”
