Oxnard—During his Tuesday, September 15, report to the City Council, Oxnard City Manager Alex Nguyen introduced Oxnard Fire Department Emergency Manager Candy Campbell, who said they are preparing a disaster preparedness event, called Prep in the Park, at the end of the month, on September 26, at College Park.
“IT'S just in time for the projections for the Super El Niño that we are going to be hitting California with, and we are predicting it's going to hit Oxnard,” she said. “This free community event will be themed to better prepare our community members.”
At the event, she said there will be four events with multiple activities within each zone.
“We’ll have activities such as fire extinguisher training, first aid, pet first aid and pet preparedness, smoke alarm installation, flood preparedness, and properly stacking sandbags, which is important for potential floods in Oxnard.”
The event is free for community members in and outside the community.
