Channel Islands-- The Ventura County Harbor Department is reporting that a draft concept for a new .25-acre playground at Harbor View Park at the Channel Islands Harbor is complete, and Ventura County residents and visitors can provide feedback about its design and playground features.
Ventura County Harbor Department Director Michael Tripp and his staff will be available to take in-person comments from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at a booth at the Channel Islands Harbor Farmer’s Market at 3600 Harbor Blvd.
Features in the playground draft concept include entry monument signage, a climbable octopus (‘Kraken) play feature, a pirate ship, climbing net, spiral slide, rubber play surfacing, concrete picnic tables, a nature-inspired swing set, shade sales, and new concrete paths.
“We couldn’t be more excited to add another landside visitor-serving amenity to the Channel Islands Harbor, especially for young families,” Tripp said. “This playground isn’t just about swings and slides; it’s about coming down to the Harbor and making lifetime memories. What better way to make sure it’s a playground for everyone than by involving the community?”
