Public Works Agency Handles Xmas storms

Ventura—The Board of Supervisors, January 13, received and filed an item from its Public Works Agency as new Ventura County Pub­lic Works Agency Dir­ector Gregg Strakaluse presented three items related to the Christmas Storms.

THE Board has delegated Public Works Agency authority to work with contractors under an emergency agreement and bypass the standard procurement process for those emergencies.

“As part of that agreement, we are required to come back to the Board and give you an update on each of these items,” he said. “There are three projects, Reese Road, Frazier Street, and Old Telegraph Road packaged today in your agenda. We’re asking you receive and file the report it’s continued in, and determine there is a need to continue the emergency action until we’ve corrected the situation to eliminate the emergency, and find the project is statuary exempt from CEQA. We’ll be back to the Board at the next meeting and have an update on this item, and we’ll have more information on the repairs, and the costs up to that point.”

Newly Elected Chair Jeff Gorell said the three items are similar in nature and can be taken as a block.
