Public Works Open House set for May 25

Oxnard-- In his report to the City Council Tuesday, May 2, City Manager Alex Nguyen said the week of May 25 is Public Works Week, and Thursday, May 25, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Public Works will have an open house at 305 W. Third Street.

"THERE will be lots of activities for everyone to learn about what Public Works does, meet the staff, ask them questions, and see some of the interesting machines and tools they use,” he said. “It is open to the public, free to the public, and it is very children-friendly.”

Nguyen said the Oxnard Police Department will have its annual update in July.

“Given the recent officer-involved shootings, we also want to address some of the issues surrounding training,” he said. “We also want to be transparent with our statistics in terms of complaints.”

He introduced his new local government fun facts and wanted to remind the public about taxes as the City enters its budget cycle.

“Our income tax goes to the State and Federal Government,” he said. If someone ma­kes $40,000, $3,040 goes to the Federal Government , and $871 goes to the State Government.
