Oxnard— Community Center Park was the happiest place in Oxnard on Saturday, April 27, as Rescue Con went off without a hitch.
PROSPECTIVE pet moms and dads mingled with plenty of adoptable animals waiting for the special ride home to be with their new family.
Rescue Con featured a whirlwind of activities, including a meet-and-greet with the Kitten Lady, plenty of arts and crafts, and plenty of dogs, rabbits, cats, and miniature horses capturing the attendees’ hearts.
Oxnard Performing Arts Center Director of Events and Programs Christian Ramirez helped run the event and said it’s the venue’s third Rescue Con.
“We have over 40 vendors and about seven different rescue groups,” he said. “This is a great event, especially in this part of town. It’s important to show people it’s not about buying; saving a life is really important.”
Volunteer Donna Nicholson brought Cat Kickers for the Cassie’s Cats and Kittens table and was ready for a great afternoon.

“It’s a bright, beautiful day,” she said. “The Cats are at the lounge because it’s safer and a little too busy for Cats.”
