Seniors revel in Chair Tai Chi

Oxnard-- There was plenty of activity at the Wilson Senior Center Monday, March 7, as the ambitious seniors took part in Chair Tai Chi specially designed to keep attendees healthy, active, and mobile.

THE seniors gracefully moved through the program and spent time targeting muscle groups, all set to peaceful and serene music, courtesy of Ventura County Public Health.

Senior Nutrition Program Manager Fernando Garcia said it’s nice that people want to come in and congregate with each other at Tai Chi and through the Senior Nutrition Program.

He didn’t plan to exercise with the seniors but said there are times that he can pop in and participate.

“That’s the fun part of the job,” he said. “It’s allowed to do that during our daily work if the time allows us,” he said. “We can exercise, line dance, play dominoes, and do a lot of things with the seniors. They really appreciate the interaction with the staff.”

 

He said Chair Tai Chi is new at the center.
