Sexual Assault Awareness Month Child Abuse Awareness Month

Oxnard—In his Tuesday, April 7, report to the City Council, City Manager Alex Nguyen said April is both Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Awareness Month.

"APRIL is a month that highlights so many traditions and causes, and it’s also a month to discuss sexual assault awareness, as well as child abuse prevention,” he said. “If you or someone you know has experienced sexual assault, or suspects a child has experienced abuse, please contact the Oxnard Police Department at 805-385-7740.”

He said the Department encourages a safe community for everyone, which includes sexual assault victims and children who are victims of abuse.

“From April 19-25 is National Library Week, along with the rest of the Country,” he said. “At our main Public Library (the Main Branch is at 251 South A Street), on Saturday, April 18, from 1-4 p.m., it’s an event for residents of all ages. We’re featuring local authors from around Ventura County, and there are 17 in all. This information is available at the City’s website and the Library’s Web Page.”

Library cards in Oxnard are free, and he said you can use all the resources available at all the Public Libraries.
