Oxnard—On November 8, 2025, at approximately 9:50 PM, Oxnard Police officers and EMS personnel responded to a report of a shooting victim in the 400 block of West Hueneme Road, in the city of Oxnard.

UPON arrival, officers located a 37-year-old male inside a vehicle suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers immediately rendered medical aid before the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he remained in critical condition.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Alejandro Soto, a 37-year-old resident of Port Hueneme. Soto suffered a single gunshot wound to the head and underwent emergency surgery while at the Ventura County Medical Center.

Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Soto succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on November 15, 2025, at approximately 12:27 AM.

Since the night of the incident, detectives from the Oxnard Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and Violent Crimes Unit have been actively investigating the case.

With assistance from multiple specialized units within the department, detectives were able to identify all individuals involved in the shooting.

During the early morning hours of November 17, 2025, detectives executed several search warrants throughout the south end of Oxnard.
