Oxnard—The Public Works and Transportation Committee, on Tuesday, May 12, approved an agreement with Haaker Equipment Company for the short-term rental of refuse equipment for refuse collection vehicles for the Environmental Resources Division (ER).
MARIA Martinez presented the item, on behalf of Assistant Public Works Director Brian Yanez, and Martinez said the Haaker Agreement is for $2.8 million, for an initial term of one year from July 1, 2026, until June 30, 2027, with the option for two consecutive one-year period extensions ending June 30, 2029, with the total contract not exceeding $8.4 million.
“On June 30, 2020, the City Council approved an agreement with Amrep USA, and it was amended for six years, for the rental of refuse vehicles for the Environmental Resource Division,” Martinez said. “To optimize operational costs and ensure service continuity, the Staff recommends transitioning to a new agreement with Haaker Equipment, utilizing the Sourcewell cooperative purchasing contract.”
“This transition is projected to yield an annual savings of approximately $150,000, if truck rental volumes stay relatively the same as before, in addition to an immediate delivery charge savings of $9,250 per Vehicle,” she said.
