Oxnard-- The Oxnard Police Department announced it was thrilled to connect with youth at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme through the Sonny Horses 4 Kids program.
LAURA and Russell Libby started the SONNY HORSES 4 KIDS PROGRAM in 2022, and the program is designed to educate and foster trust, provide opportunities to get up close and have intimate and personal interactions alongside law enforcement; while building bridges to promote community engagement.
Sonny Horses 4 Kids aims to create a safer society by reducing fear of law enforcement and increasing trust.
The kids at the Boys & Girls Club met Sonny, had a Q&A session with officers, toured police units, and were given their own (plush) Sonny Horse and PD badge to take home. The Police Department called it a great opportunity to meet children and make them feel more comfortable talking to officers!
