Ventura— During the Tuesday, May 1 Board of Supervisors meeting, the Moment of Inspiration went to Tammie Helmuth and the Girl Scouts of California's Central Coast.
BOARD Chair Jeff Gorell said she's a remarkable young leader after they met.
"The local Girl Scouts have more than 10,000 members across six Counties, and 50 percent represent Ventura County," he said. "The Girl Scouts have a long tradition of helping young people develop confidence, leadership, character, and the skills to make a difference in the lives of others."
They recognized 10-year-old Gemma for her actions that saved a fellow Scout.
The Girl Scouts of California's Central Coast serves six counties, including Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito.
"Since 1913, the Girl Scouts have been tracking the girls who win this lifesaving award," she said. "As of this year, there are less than 300 girls who have earned this lifesaving Award."
She called it a medal of honor that recognizes young Girls who've saved lives.
