Supervisors Praise Public Works

Ventura—The Board of Supervisors, review of Public Works Week continues with Manager of the Year.

DIRECTOR Greg Straka said the nominees are Tobie Mitchell from Central Services, Devi Nallamala from Engineering Services, Matt Hespenheide from Roads & Transportation, David Laak from Watershed Protection, and Homer Arrendondo from Water & Sanitation.

“The Winner is David Laak,” Straka said.

Chair Jeff Gorell said the County couldn’t do it without Public Works, and he congratulated all the winners and nominees.

“We have signed resolutions for each one of those individuals that we’d like to present,” he said.

Supervisor Matt LaVere appreciates the importance of the Public Works Agency plays.

“It’s sometimes forgotten, but you are a critical piece of that puzzle,” he said. So much of our job is dealing with constituent requests and concerns, and often, at times, they have to do with roads or parks, watersheds, or so many calls we get that must go to Public Works. The entire agency is so responsive to all of us, thank you for that.
