Oxnard—The Finance and Governance Committee, on Tuesday, September 8, considered its 2nd Quarterly Sale and Disposal of Surplus City Property.
PURCHASING Manager Libertad Macias presented the sale and said the auctioned items are obsolete and no longer needed for City Operations.
City Staff recommends that the Finance and Governance Committee recommend that the City Council authorize the Purchasing Agent to dispose of 36 units of surplus vehicles, trailers, and related equipment via public auction. Items over $500 require City Council approval for disposal.
“Vehicles, trailers, and related equipment have been identified through fleet management services, and surplus items are no longer needed or cost-effective to maintain,” she said. “There are 36 units across Police, Fire, Water, Streets, and Parks.”
She said Fleet vehicles, trailers, and operational equipment include: Sedans, SUVs, Pickups, and vans; equipment and utility trailers (Including Live Floor Trailers); service units (flatbeds, box trucks, and utility body trucks); and specialized equipment (striping equipment, pressure washer) with model years ranging from 1987 to 2020.
The assets are located across multiple City facilities.
“Multiple units exceed 100,000 to 150,000 miles, have engine failures, transmission failures, internal damage, and are accident-damaged and parted-out vehicles,” she said. “Several units are non-operational and have exceeded their useful life.”
