Oxnard-- The City of Oxnard kicked off its Christmas Season Thursday, December 1, with its 72nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting at Plaza Park.
THE event featured lots of food trucks providing dinner, a pop-up marketplace to start holiday shopping, a bunch of performances by area dancers, a DJ, and the main event, the tree lighting.
Community Relations Commission Member Adam Lopez emceed the event and said the Downtown Oxnard Improvement Association appreciates local businesses that continually support its efforts.
“We have the Tamale Festival this Saturday, December 3, but most importantly, at 10 a.m., we have the City of Oxnard Annual Christmas Parade,” he said. “I want to invite everyone to come. We have 81 participants, which is more than we’ve had in previous years.”
He said the Parade’s theme in 2022 is “A Blast of Christmas Past.”
“It will be a beloved event for the whole family,” Lopez said. “There will be colorful marching bands, Equestrian Units, local school groups, and Santa.”

The fun didn’t stop there, as he noted the Tamale Festival was taking place during the Parade.
