Oxnard--The City Council adopted a resolution declaring the results of the March 7 Special Municipal Election, and newly elected District 6 Councilman Arthur Valenzuela Jr. took office.
CITY Attorney Stephen Fischer said that after the election occurred on March 7, there were 63 votes cast at the vote center, 1,406 vote by mail ballots were cast with 1,530 votes cast.
“Arthur Valenzuela Jr. had the most votes, 618,” he said. “The second-place candidate had 551 votes, and the third-place candidate had 300 votes.”
Council Member Gabe Teran congratulated Valenzuela.
“The responsibilities are great, but those who step up to take up that responsibility are commended and know they are into this because of their love for the community and what they would like to do to contribute to this community in positive ways,” he said.
Council Member Gabriela Basua looks forward to working with Valenzuela.
Councilman Bert Perello thanked all three candidates who ran for office.
“I’m sure the Council and Valenzuela will work well together,” Perello said.
