Ventura—The City Council, on Tuesday, July 14, received a special presentation of Kaiser Permanente’s Operation Splash Grant Award.
KAISER Permanente presented the City with a $54,000 check for Operation Splash, which the City accepted.
Mathew Jacobs from Kaiser Permanente came forward to share some words, and he said they are committed to water safety in the community.
Jacobs, the Government Relations Manager for Kaiser in Ventura, introduced Mary Jarvis and Dr. Julie Hein, who were both born and raised in Ventura, along with Eduardo Avila, who manages the Market Street Medical Offices.
Jarvis was pleased to be before the City Council and said it's a special year for Kaiser Permanente.
“It’s our 20-year anniversary in 2026, when Kaiser Permanente expanded in West Ventura County,” she said. “We opened our first Medical Office in Oxnard in May 2006, and shortly after that, in July, Kaiser Permanente announced it was affiliating with Buenaventura Medical Group, the largest multi-specialty medical group that has served the community since 1950.”
Jarvis said it was started by four physicians who dreamed of turning it into a premier medical center, and one of them was Dr. Leo Tabber, whom she said some people remember.
