Ventura Road Digital Billboard approved

Oxnard--On a split vote, the City Council approved an amended motion to construct a Digital Billboard along Ventura Road on about 1,000 square feet on the North side of U.S. Highway 101.

THE approval allows for the construction of a Digital Display Billboard that will advertise businesses, activities, or products. The top of the Billboard will be 80 feet above the ground, 14.5 feet tall by 48.5 feet wide.

It will have a two-sided LED Display that is 14x48 feet.

Planner Joe Pearson II told the Council that the Planning Commission denied a Special Use Permit and recommended the City Council deny three related permits for the Billboard on February 3 because the street vacation did not conform with the 2030 General Plan.

“However, in their motion, the Planning Commission stated should the City Council approve the Freeway Adjacent Digital split Billboard Ordinance as originally proposed by the City Staff, which allows for this Billboard, they would be in support of this proposed project,” he said. “This would find it consistent with the 2030 General Plan.”
