Port Hueneme—Area Veterans celebrated Labor Day with full stomachs. Post 3935 sold lunches with the proceeds benefiting its bar fund.
VETERANS gathered, enjoyed each other’s company, swapped stories, shot a game of pool, and shared a few laughs along the way.
The Lt Wonnie Wood Post has been serving the needs of veterans for over 80 years.
Assistant Manager and Volunteer Bartender Addie Allison said the weekend is going well, and she’s having a great Labor Day.
“We celebrated life yesterday for one of our bartender sisters,” she said. “The proceeds from today go back into our bar fund and contribute to our bills here.”
She planned on having a great cheeseburger.
“People can come here, hang out, and have a good time,” she said. “Football is on during the season. We have lotto machines that people enjoy.”
Veteran Jebediah Kablan said his weekend has been awesome, and he enjoys the sense of camaraderie among his fellow Vets.

“We had a nice memorial for one of our bartenders yesterday, and today we’re having a cookout,” he said. “They’re making burgers and dogs today.”
He said VFW 3935 is important to the community.
