Channel Islands—A little rain fell on Wheels & Waves at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum on Sunday, October 6, but that didn’t dampen the car lovers’ spirits, who enjoyed coffee, donuts, and good times.
THE all-new show featured lots of classic rides, a little music mixed in, and plenty of stories about classic car owners pursuing their passion.
Fireball Tim Lawrence led the effort and said the people who didn’t mind the weather were treated to a plethora of great cars.
“I would say that 80 percent of the cars are new today,” he said. “The nice thing is that people in Simi Valley came out and said it was boiling, so we turned up the air conditioning, so it’s nice and cool here.”
He said the show featured rad rods, an Impala that is a show winner, and Johnny Martinez’s Pickup Truck.
“He’s a pinstriper,” Lawrence said. “We have new and classic Corvettes, Woodies, JDM Cars, Muscle Cars, classic Cadillacs, a little bit of everything.”

He enjoys people who bring their cars, their pieces of art.
“They’re enjoying themselves, and we have more donuts and coffee than we can handle,” he said. “We’re percolating.”
