Port Hueneme—The City of Port Hueneme reviewed its 2024 Hueneme Beach Festival (Beachfest) on Monday, October 21, which turned around financially and looks forward to 2025.
The Council approved the City to begin preparation for the 2025 Beachfest following the 2024 template and plans to make the event a summer kickoff event on Saturday and Sunday, July 12-13.
The Beachfest lost almost $71,000 in 2023, but after reworking the event and more outreach and feedback, the event posted a $28,000 surplus in 2024.
City Manager James Vega said they had a short window to plan the 2024 Hueneme Beach Festival, which hurt the City.
“We’re looking to get ahead of it this year,” he said.
The 2024 Hueneme Beach Festival had many similarities to previous years, but this year, he said it had a different footprint with the intention of moving off Surfside to minimize the impacts on neighborhood residents.
“It was moved more into the parking lots, which enabled us to have less traffic and parking-related issues,” he said.
