Ventura—The City Council, on Tuesday, June 2, received an update from Derek Riser, Assistant City Clerk, about the November 3 General Election, followed by Chief Financial Officer Greg Morley, who discussed a potential tax measure and the Citizen Survey and timeline.
“At a February 2024 City Council meeting, they had a goal-setting session, and we called it that, because we didn’t call them strategic priorities,” he said. “The City Council created a goal that said to explore and present options and methodology for funding future identified budgetary needs.”
The goal was set in February 2024, and he said it would be completed by the end of the calendar year. The Council had some other items to attend to, so they didn’t get around to discussing it until April 2025.
“We came before the City Council and provided a presentation that described some of the funding mechanisms that are available to generate revenue for future budgetary funding needs,” he said. “We came in April of 2025, and we provided this presentation, and the City Council said, ‘Give me more.’”
