805 HERO WALK honors the fallen

Oxnard-- It was a day to remember the fallen Police and Public Servants and pay tribute to their heroism as the 805 Hero Walk brought out a big crowd to offer love, support, and say thanks for their service, Saturday, April 29.

THE Second Annual Event was rebranded from the Carry the Load event in 2022 and received the help of the Oxnard Police Community Foundation; participants walked from Hollywood Beach down Harbor Boulevard and stopped at Oxnard Fire Station 6 on Peninsula Road to see pictures of public servants who gave their lives to serve the Community.

Oxnard Police Community Foundation Board President Stacy Miller said the Foundation is holding the Hero Walk for 2023.

“It’s our signature annual event to honor those fallen Heroes, both sworn people and Military Personnel,” she said. “We have about 200 people sign up to walk. We’re starting here and walking down to the Fire Station and back. When we come back, we’ll have the poster boards of each of the fallen heroes.”

 

Stacy said the walk is important to the families of fallen heroes and to let them know they recognize their sacrifice and the sacrifice of their loved ones.
