ALLEY BEAUTIFICATION RALLIES THE COMMUNITY

Oxnard-- The City of Oxnard’s Meet Up Clean Up was back at work making a difference, Saturday, November 6, as the LaColonia Alley Beautification
event brought a coalition of people together, ready to work and leave the alleys better than they found them.

THE event, organized by Mayor John

Zaragoza and District Three Councilman Oscar Madrigal, meant lots of hard work cleaning debris, but the reward was clean places that looked great.

City Corps, the Oxnard Police Department, SEIU, and many volunteers gloved up, grabbed some tools, went to work, and enjoyed some lunch afterward.

Mayor John Zaragoza said Meet Up Clean Up is a combined effort.

“It’s all of us,” he said. “Me and Councilman Oscar Madrigal got together, and we put together this cleanup for La Colonia, which is important. It’s part of our priorities that we put together with the city council. Clean up our parks and clean up our streets. There’s a lot of people helping us out here. We have the police, we have SEIU, and we have the 585 and some of the CPOs from the Navy base. Their training has to do with community development and community service.”

He loves making La Colonia…
